Taishan

    Mount Tai (Chinese: 泰山) is a mountain of historical and cultural significance located north of the city of Tai'an, in Shandong province, China. The tallest peak is the Jade Emperor Peak (simplified Chinese: 玉皇顶; traditional Chinese: 玉皇頂; pinyin: Yùhuáng Dǐng), which is commonly reported as 1,545 metres (5,069 ft) tall, but is described by the PRC government as 1,532.7 metres (5,029 ft).

  1. The Sun Rising in the Eastern Sky of Mt.Taishan

      Standing on the top of the mountain at fine dawn and looking down at the distance to the east, one sees a ray of morning light change from murky grow to light yellow, and then to orange red. Later, red and purple clouds in the sky, under going myriad changes in the twinkling of an eye, become redder and redder.

  2. The Charming Winter in Mt.Taishan

      In spring, fresh green gradually covers the mountain slop. Mt. Taishan is decorated with white apricot, red peach and golden capsules of weeping forsythia flowers which blossom prettily. In summer, verdant vegetation grows and hundred streams flow with vitality spreading everywhere from top to bottom. Autumn is the season of the richest colors on Mt.TaiShan.

  3. The Pizhi Pagoda of the Lingyan Temple,Mt.Taishan

      There are three well-known Buddhist temples on Mt. Taishan, the Pervading Light Temple (the Puzhao Monastery) before the mountain, the Yuquan Temple behind the mountain, and the Lingyan Temple (the Divine Rock Temple) to the northwest of the highest peak.

  4. The Azure Cloud Temple,Mt.Taishan

      There are three well-known Buddhist temples on Mt. Taishan, the Pervading Light Temple (the Puzhao Monastery) before the mountain, the Yuquan Temple behind the mountain, and the Lingyan Temple (the Divine Rock Temple) to the northwest of the highest peak.

  5. The Heavenly Street,Mt.Taishan

      Passing the gateway of the South Gate to Heaven, one may go north and turn left to the east. There comes then "the Heavenly Street". The original stone memorial archway called "rising to the center" was destroyed. The rebuilt stone memorial archway has been named "the Heavenly Street".

  6. The South Gate to the Heaven,Mt.Taishan

      The South Gate to Heaven is also called "the Third Gate to Heaven", and is the most well-know symbolic Structure of Mt. Taishan. It is a tower with a stone arch gateway. There is a garret with double roofs above the Gate, known as the Skyscraping Garret.

  7. The Spectacular Wonder of the Opposing Pines Mountain,Mt.Taishan

      On the sides of the steps north of the Halfway Gate to Heaven, the double peaks stand facing each other, covered by ten thousand pine trees. This is "the Opposing Pines Mountain" and also called "the Ten Thousand Pine Mountain". Because of the difference of altitude, the types of vegetation on Mt. Taishan are also different.

  8. The Guest Welcoming Pine,Mt.Taishan

      The Guest Welcoming Pine stands at the eastern side of Lanzhuyuan Hill, about 900 meters above sea level at the Halfway Gate to Heaven. It is up against a precipitous cliff with roots grasping bare rocks and the tree trunk leaning forward. The long branches stretch out above all others as if the pine tree is giving regards and waving to visitors.

  9. The Cloud Step Bridge and Flying Waterfall,Mt.taishan

      The Bridge is a one-arch stone construction. The pavilion to the east of the bridge, named "The Pavilion for Watching Waterfalls", is also made of stone. The river valley to the north rises steeply and the stone cliff leans forward while the rapid waterfalls pass. In the flood season, tourists walking on the bridge are usually surrounded by fog and mist and feel like they are walking in the clouds.

  10. The Halfway Gate to Heaven,Mt.taishan

      If one wants to climb Mt. Taishan from the Mid-route one has to pass three well-known gates---the First Gate to Heaven, the Second Gate to Heaven and the Third Gate to Heaven. The Halfway Gate to Heaven is located on the Huangxian Ridge (the Yellow Mountain Range). The major symbol is the stone memorial archway, on which the three inscribed Chinese characters "the Halfway Gate to Heaven" have been collected from the Sutra Rock Valley. In the north there is a "Two-tiger Temple", about three rooms big.
